HOVLAND TREVARE

70 years of history

Hovland Trevare has a proud history of woodcraft, producing doors and windows for more than 70 years.
Doors and windows of high quality since 1947

Hovland Trevarefabrikk was started in 1947 by Olaf Hovland and Olav Egeland. After having produced doors and windows for some 20 years at a local factory then it was only natural that these were also the main products of the newly established company.
A new generation

The 70's saw a change in ownership and re-location to more modern premises. The company was by 1975 owned jointly by Per Hovland and Johannes Tønnesen.
Steadily increasing sales, not least from export markets, resulted in the need for larger production facilities and the neighbouring building was purchased. In total the company now operated from 3000m2 with a workforce of 30. 1979 saw the establishment of a joint sales office, with local window manufacturer Nordan , in Scotland. Export sales are still, to this day significant, accounting for some 30% of total sales. More over, long term relationships have been established with customers in Scotland.

New Location - Fresh ideas

I 1998 following a successful reorganisation the company moved to Hellvik, some 15 km east of Egersund. The product range was reduced to allow the company to further specialise in the production of curved windows and one-off products. This type of hand-made product remains the back bone of the company. Experience gained over the years allows particularly demanding products to be made. As our Scottish customers have stated "If it can be made from wood - then they can do it".

This ability to meet customer requirements combined with high quality has also been responsible for us becoming a major supplier to Norways largest building suppliers.

Currently 17 employees are engaged with Olaf and Gar Hovland as the two main shareholders. Olaf Hovland is the Managing Director.
